Hi!
I’m Cara, and I can cook.
To be more precise, I’m an avid home cook based in Portland, Oregon. For a few years now, my favorite pastime has been going to the incredible PSU Farmer’s Market, finding some crazy new ingredient I’ve new bought before, and experimenting with how to cook it until I’ve figured it out.
Four years into this deep dive, I have gained a LOT of niche knowledge on the seasonal plenty of the PNW. And a lot of love for often overlooked ingredients.
I often invite friends to join me at the Farmer’s Market, and I have observed something. So often people attending snag a gorgeous baked good, bouquet of fresh flowers, artisan item… and *maybe* a raw veggie or two and a pint of fruit. Because it’s intimidating to grab something you’ve never cooked fresh before. Or maybe don’t even know the name of.
The repeated question on EVERYONE’S mind is, “so how do I cook this?”
Well, that’s what my content is for. I want to explain ingredients to you, and show you (a few ways) how to cook it.
So come along for the ride. Let’s explore duck eggs, kohlrabi, fiddleheads and sorrel. Let’s take another look at green beans, eggplant and winter squash. Let’s be inspired to get our food from its farmers. Let’s forage and pick our dinner from the fields. And let’s cook some delicious food.
I’m not a chef. I am just a curious foodie who wants to make fun new food to share with friends and family.
I can cook – follow along if you want to too.
